Jimmy Fallon's ear is better, but nose out of joint thanks to Matt Lauer and Al Roker

All that remains of Jimmy Fallon’s recently pierced ear is a small bump — and the toe-curling footage of Harrison Ford impaling the late-night host’s flesh with a thick needle.

“It’s just a little freckle now,” Fallon said, showing off his freshly-healed left earlobe during a visit to Chicago on Friday.

Fallon dropped by Chicago to introduce himself to folks at NBC’s local affiliate — and pick up a few Italian beef sandwiches — before taking over “The Tonight Show” in February.

Ford, who’s sported an earring for 15 years, pierced Fallon’s virgin ear on stage Nov. 1 on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”

“After the show I ran up to ‘Saturday Night Live’ to show everybody,” Fallon said. “There was blood all over my neck. I’m like, ‘Look! Harrison Ford just pierced my ear!’”

Fallon toyed with the idea of temporarily leaving the red feather earring in place but opted against it.

“I was going to a basketball game that night and it’s a giant red feather; I’d just be asking for attention,” Fallon said.

It’s not the first Fallon has sacrificed some skin on television. In 2011, Dr. Oz performed minor surgery on him while the cameras rolled. Oz removed a mole on Fallon’s hand.

“Now I have a giant scar,” Fallon said about the mole removal while pointing to an L-shaped mark on his hand. “I’d rather have the mole. It wasn’t even cancerous. Now it says ‘L’ for Lorne Michaels.” (The producer of “Saturday Night Live,” where Fallon got his start, also executive produces Fallon’s late-night chatfest and will do the same with “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”)

Fallon has proven he’s game for being the subject of on-air medical procedures, but he’s not alone in that regard at NBC. Last week, the “Today” show’s Matt Lauer and Al Roker underwent prostate exams on TV.

“I pierced my ear and they want to top me,” Fallon said with mock disdain. “They pierced their rear.”
