SHARE Elizabeth Vargas confirms she's in rehab

Veteran broadcaster Elizabeth Vargas, the “20/20” anchor at ABC , has confirmed she has been in a rehab facility, getting treatment for an alcohol addiction. In a statement released to Confidenti@l, Vargas said, “Like so many people, I am dealing with addiction. I realized I ws becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol, and feel fortunate to have recognized it for the problem it was becoming.”

ABC has released a statement of support for Vargas, calling her “a member of our family,” and noting her large body of “distinguished work over the years.”

From 1989 to 1993 Vargas worked as a reporter and anchor at WBBM-TV, the CBS-owned station in Chicago.
