There is a lot of holiday happening this week, including the train exhibit at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe and violinist Andrew Bird at the Fourth Presbyterian Church through Thursday with his “Holiday Gezeligheid” concerts.

For something a little different, “Tribes,” the new play at Steppenwolf’s Upstairs Theatre, has just gone into previews. And those interested in a play that zeroes in on Chicago history should check out “Burning Bluebeard” by Theater Wit on West Belmont. This very original play is inspired by the tragic 1903 Iroquois Theatre fire in Chicago. That said, “Burning Bluebeard” is an upbeat, vaudeville-like romp.
