His 2013 tome on Chicago — “The Third Coast: When Chicago Built the American Dream” — was just named to the New York Times list of “100 Notable Books” published this year. There’ve been plenty of favorable/glowing reviews as well — even, to some extent, this ire provoking one.

And now New York-based author Thomas Dyja is back in his former hometown (he grew up on the Northwest Side) to speak about “Third Coast” and the Midwestern metropolis that inspired it.

Catch him from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Chicago Architecture Foundation (224 S. Michigan, CAF lecture hall) during another installment of the organization’s ongoing series “Lunch Talks @ CAF.”
