Gandolfini tribute planned

James Gandolfini

HBO, the network where “The Sopranos” made James Gandolfini a huge star — yet brought him the immense fame the actor clearly disliked — will honor the late actor.

“James Gandolfini: Tribute To A Friend” will air first at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on HBO. The half-hour tribute will include appearances by friends and colleagues to remember the three-time Emmy winner, plus will include special clips of the actor’s work and behind-the-scenes footage.

Gandolfini unexpectedly died June 19 in Rome at age 51.
