Tour operator wants heliport on the South Branch

A Wheeling-based company that offers helicopter tours and charter service wants to build a complex that includes a heliport on the South Branch of the Chicago River.

DNAInfo.com reports plans submitted to the city by Chicago Helicopter Express also include a water taxi dock, a terminal with an observation deck, a hangar and a fueling station.

The proposal for 2420 S. Halsted St. is awaiting consideration by the Zoning Committee and Plan Commission.
