Google has filed a lawsuit against the Apple- and Microsoft-backed Rockstar Consortium, a patent holding group, claiming that its patent campaign is unfairly targeting Google’s Android partners and customers, CNET reports.

In October, Rockstar filed suits against Google and other companies over a bunch of allegedly infringing patents. Other companies in the Rockstar Consortium include BlackBerry, Ericsson, and Sony.

The melee stems from June 2011 when the companies engaged in a tit-for-tat competition to buy Nortel Network’s 6,000 patents.
