Lots and lots of lattes: $450 "Gold" Starbucks rewards card sells out in seconds

SHARE Lots and lots of lattes: $450 "Gold" Starbucks rewards card sells out in seconds

How’s this for a math equation: For $450, plus $15 in delivery charges, you could have owned the new Starbucks/Gilt group card worth $400 in Starbucks bucks.

Incredible huh?

The card sold out within minutes.

Starbucks paired up with swanky, members-only Gilt.com to sell the metallic, rose-gold-hued Starbucks rewards card to the first 1,000 buyers. The gilded cards were to go on sale at 11 a.m. CST today. However, some social media users are angry, saying they never had a chance to spend their duckets. Apparently, the cards sold out in seconds. And, apparently, they sold out to those of you who were already Starbucks cardholders who had pre-sale access. VIP status does have its privileges….

Social media was aflame about the sale, including this person:

Within an hour, at least four of the cards were ready for resale on Ebay. The highest price tag so far? Nearly $2,000.
