Charles Tillman was excused from practice Thursday by the Bears for reasons unrelated to his knee injury.

The cornerback appeared on the team’s injury report Wednesday after being limited in practice. He is expected to return to practice Friday, two days before the Bears host the Minnesota Vikings.

Defensive end Julius Peppers was sick and did not practice.

Tillman is the second Bear to receive a team-excused absence since the Bears returned to Halas Hall after training camp. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall missed four days surrounding the team’s final preseason game.
