Jim McGowan of Alsip caught a nice shot I envy.

He emailed:

I thought that your readers might enjoy seeing this photo.I took this picture on Tuesday 8/27/13 on a very hot and Sunny day but obviously not to hot for these two who were chasing each other all over my yard and got very Lucky to get them both feeding at the same time which never happens.

He was right about my readers, and about me.

What makes his shot extra special is how often hummingbirds are more focused on chasing off other hummingbirds than they are on their own feeding.

Wild of the Week, a celebration of wild scenes and doings around Chicago outdoors, runs on the Sun-Times outdoors page on Sundays, as warranted.

As the fall and winter come, I also mix in Buck of the Week: Unplugged, the celebration of live big bucks around Chicago outdoors, on Sundays.

There are a multitude of ways to send nominations of WOTW or BOTW: Unplugged: on Facebook (Dale Bowman), Twitter (@BowmanOutside) or email (straycasts@sbcglobal.net).
