The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will pay tribute to the late chef Jean Banchet’s legacy at its 17th annual Grand Chef’s Gala, which will be held Jan. 31 at Fairmont Chicago Millennial Park.

In 2001, the foundation along with Banchet created his namesake awards as part of the fund-raising dinner, and they continue to be the only Chicago-based awards presentation that recognizes Chicago area culinary talent. Known worldwide for his signature restaurant, Le Francais, the 72-year-old Banchet died Nov. 24.

There are 44 chef and food notables nominated this year. Here is the list. And here’s more information about the gala.
