Giordano’s has opened a South Loop restaurant at 1340 S. Michigan Ave., the pizza chain’s first new restaurant since 2011.

The company is planning five new stores this year in the Andersonville neighborhood and the north suburbs, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Giordano’s has 41 restaurants in the Chicago area and three in Florida.

The pizza chain was bought at auction for $61.6 million in November 2011 by an investment group led by Chicago-based Victory Park Capital.

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is an equity owner and national spokesman for Giordano’s.
