Cubby Bear North has closed

Cubby Bear North in Lincolnshire has closed.

Its last public event was New Year’s Eve. The bar’s Twitter page @CubbyBearNorth was last updated Dec. 31. Its Facebook page is gone and no one is returning messages left on the still-functioning answering machine, the Lake County News-Sun reports.

“This is a difficult decision for me and my family,” owner George Loukas said in a statement to Crain’s Chicago Business. “Unfortunately, this has been a difficult economy for some time and we need to reassess the best use of that property.”

Closing the Lincolnshire location will not affect the original Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville or Loukas’ rooftops across from Wrigley Field, a Loukas Inc. spokesman told Crain’s.
