Sue’s Morning Stretch: Right now, go weigh your purse!

SHARE Sue’s Morning Stretch: Right now, go weigh your purse!

Oh boy, this is something I am so guilty of, having way too much in my purse. I think I could hop on a plane right now and have just about everything I need for a trip. I think it makes me a prepared person, don’t you?

But, according to the experts on “Good Morning America,” a packed purse is a no-no. Our handbags should be no more than 5 pounds (my wallet alone probably weighs that, and it’s not from the cash in there). A “GMA” check of the handbags of women on the street showed more than 7 pounds was more likely. Expert Gretta Monahan said we should limit it to work essentials (ID), cellphone and minimal makeup. Small wallet. Monahan also recommended a purse with a strap that goes across the body, but I don’t know about that. That’s how I started having back pain. But, that could be because I have so much in my purse.

Go weigh your handbag. I just did and mine is at 6.4 pounds (and I thought I was so good because I recently culled my nail polishes down from 6 bottles to 4). Tonight, I am tossing out more. You do the same.
