WASHINGTON–Mayor Rahm Emanuel is back here, this time to attend the U.S. Conference of Mayors annual winter meeting. On Thursday morning, according to City Hall, Emanuel “will be speaking at the transportation committee meeting where he will call on U.S. mayors to join his efforts to ensure the safe transport of oil and other hazardous materials on our nation’s railways.‎” In the afternoon, the mayors are invited to the White House for a reception with President Barack Obama. Emanuel served as Obama’s first chief of staff.
