WASHINGTON–The White House is hosting an event dealing with jobs skills and the long-term unemployed on Friday and City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Cheryl Hyman is attending the meeting with President Barack Obama, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Secretary of Labor Tom Perez. A variety of CEO’s will also be at the White House for Obama’s push for more private/public partnerships which Obama discussed in Tuesday’s State of the Union message. Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been trumpeting the City Colleges programs where the schools trains students for “living wage” occupations with Chicago companies looking to hire.
