Kraft Foods is saying there may be a shortage of Velveeta, according to the Associated Press. Not explaining much so far, just that some customers may not be able to find it.

I know Velveeta is uber-popular on Super Bowl Sunday. Already some of you will be worried you can’t have the Rotel/Velveeta dip that is a must for so many Super Bowl parties. Here’s a recipe, from the Brown Eyed Baker blog, for Chile Con Queso, that is a fine substitute. Give it a try.

Velveeta is classified as a pasteurized process cheese spread. This recipe uses real cheese. The difference in flavor may surprise you. In a good way.
