A man was shot to death in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side Tuesday morning.

Derick D. Coopwood, 21, was found at 7:08 a.m. with “numerous gunshot wounds” in an alley near the 700 block of North Spaulding, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Coopwood — who lived a half block west in the 700 block of North Christiana — was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:58 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police said he had documented gang ties.
