Police: Man died from medical problems after Aurora crash

(AURORA) The death of an Aurora man who was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon in the western suburb appears to have been medical in nature, authorities said.

Ronald C. Walker, 88, of the 900 block of Walter Avenue, died at an Aurora hospital Thursday night, according to a statement from Aurora police. Police said Friday the cause of death was a medical issue.

Witnesses told investigators they saw Walker slumped over in the driver’s seat of his 2000 Honda Accord about 4:15 p.m. as it rolled slowly eastbound into the intersection of Benton and Broadway through a red light, police said.

The car went over the curb at the southeast corner of the intersection and hit a retaining wall, causing the airbag to deploy, police said. Only minor damage to the vehicle was observed.
