(PLAINFIELD) A woman was killed when an SUV crashed into a truck Thursday morning in southwest suburban Plainfield.

A Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling north on Ridge Road north of Johnson Road about 8:15 a.m. when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound box truck, according to a statement from Plainfield police.

The driver of the SUV, later identified as 37-year-old Aurora resident Nicole Nuemann, had to be cut out of the wreckage, according to police and the Kane County Coroner’s office.

Nuemann was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where she was pronounced dead at 9:20 a.m., authorities said.

The truck driver was not injured, but a passenger in the truck was taken to Rush-Copley for minor back pain, police said.

An autopsy for Nuemann on Friday was inconclusive pending further investigation and toxicology results, authorities said.

Ridge Road was closed between Route 126 and Plainfield/Oswego Road for five hours as police investigated.
