(WEST CHICAGO) A man was killed and two other people were hurt  were injured Friday night in a fiery head-on crash in suburban West Chicago.

Officers responded about 11 p.m. to the two-vehicle crash at Illinois Route 59 and Gary’s Mill Road, according to a statement from West Chicago police.

Bystanders pulled two men from one of the vehicles before emergency crews arrived, police said. They were taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, but their conditions were not known, police said.

The other vehicle was engulfed in flames and a man thought to be in his 30s was later found dead inside, according to police and the DuPage County Coroner’s office.

Authorities hadn’t identified the man as of Sunday afternoon.
