(GILBERTS) Construction on a project to rebuild and widen the Jane Addams Tollway will cause overnight lane closures near northwest suburban Gilberts starting Monday night.

The closures will allow crews to install beams on the new Tyrrell Road Bridge carrying traffic over the tollway (I-90). It is one of 11 bridges being reconstructed to accommodate a new, wider roadway on the Jane Addams, tollway officials said in a release.

Starting at 7 p.m. Monday, one eastbound lane on the tollway will close, and a westbound lane will close at 8 p.m., the tollway said.

Brief, intermittent full closures will happen in both directions between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, the tollway said. All lanes will reopen again in time for the morning rush.

Tyrrell Road will also be closed to traffic during the full closures on the Jane Addams, the statement said. Similar closures are scheduled from Tuesday into Wednesday, if needed to complete beam installation work.

The work is part of a $2.5 billion project on the Jane Addams, which links Rockford to O’Hare Airport and downtown Chicago and serves one million travelers every day, tollway officials said.
