No one was hurt when a Metra train clipped a semi in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side late Thursday afternoon, causing delays for all outbound riders.

Metra Union Pacific/West Line train No. 45, scheduled to arrive in Geneva at 5:47 p.m., hit the end of a semi trailer about 5:10 p.m., Metra spokesman Tom Miller said. No one was injured.

Outboard trains to Geneva, West Chicago, La Fox and Elburn from Ogilvie Transportation Center were temporarily halted near Kilbourn, according to Metra.

Trains are moving again as of 5:50 p.m., but with delays between 15 and 60 minutes.

The delays came on top of an earlier incident in which a UP/West Line train struck a vehicle in West Chicago, according to Metra. No one was hurt in that crash either.
