The Oak Street Beach bike path was temporarily closed Monday morning for ice build-up.

Someone called police and said the path at 1000 N. Lake Shore Drive was icy and slippery, police said. Officers notified Chicago Park District officials, who will salt the path, police said.

The path was closed to bikers as of 7:33 a.m. but will be reopened once crews properly salt it down, police said.

The Chicago Park District could not immediately be reached to say how long salting would take.
