Ebola results negative after person travels from Liberia to Illinois

Test results for Ebola came back negative for a person who developed fever like symptoms after arriving in Illinois Nov. 16 from Liberia, the Illinois Department of Public Health said.

“The individual was evaluated, was determined to be asymptomatic and low risk at the time, and has been actively monitored for symptoms since that time,” said Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck of the IDPH. “On Thursday, Nov. 27, the individual reported having a fever and was transported to a hospital following stringent infection control protocols.”

To date, there have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in Illinois and there is no threat to the public, Hasbrouck said.
