Aurora fire causes $200K in damages

(AURORA) A fire at a west suburban home caused an estimated $200,000 in damages Thursday.

Officials responded to the blaze in the 1600 block of Plum Tree Lane at 2:25 p.m. on Thursday, according to a statement from the Aurora Fire Department. Firefighters found a large amount of fire coming from an upstairs window in the back of the home.

The occupants of the house were staying with relatives and were not home at the time, the statement said. No injuries were reported.

Damages to the home were estimated at $150,000, and damages to contents an additional $50,000, the statement said. The home was rendered uninhabitable by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Aurora Fire Department Arson Team.
