A Lakeview breakfast spot may have definitively crushed the cronut craze.
Word got out this week that Waffles Café makes wonuts, or mini waffle-doughnuts, and now demand is off the charts.
It started when local blog Thrillist posted what amounts to wonut porn, showing the waffles go from vanilla, chocolate or red velvet batter to deep-fried, besprinkled, double-glazed decadence.
This naturally caught the attention of London’s Daily Mail, and word spread to Jezebel, E Online, BuzzFeed and more.
“The press is beautiful, but we need to service the customers,” Waffles owner Alex Hernandez’s mom told DNAinfo.com when she answered the phone Friday.
