A man is facing several criminal charges after he accidentally shot a woman in the knee early Wednesday in an Englewood apartment.

Shaquille Sankey, 20, was charged with one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and one misdemeanor count of possession of ammunition without a valid FOID, according to Chicago Police.

Sankey accidentally shot a 21-year-old woman in the right knee about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in an apartment in the 6400 block of South May Street, where he resides, police said.

The woman was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where she was treated and released, police said.

Two other weapons were found on the scene, police said.

Sankey is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
