A woman was shot and critically wounded early Sunday in Englewood.

The woman was approached by an armed suspect in the 200 block of West Garfield Boulevard as she was leaving a business about 4:30 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The 34-year-old was shot in the lower left side and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
