A bank was robbed Thursday morning in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood on the Near West Side.

A man walked into the North Community Bank branch at 1600 W. Chicago Ave. at 9:17 a.m. and presented a note implying he had a weapon, though he did not show one, FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said.

The suspect — wearing a black hat and coat, and carrying a tan tote bag — ran off with the money after the robbery, Hyde said.

The suspect is a black man, standing about 5-foot-8, weighing between 165 and 180 pounds and is said to be in his 20s to early 30s, according to the FBI. No injuries were reported in the robbery.

The FBI is investigating.
