(AURORA) A west suburban man has been convicted of possessing multiple pornographic videos of children under the age of 13.

Oscar Mendez

Oscar Mendez, 26, was convicted of nine felony counts of aggravated child pornography late Wednesday, according to a statement from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s office.

On July 23, 2010, police executed a search warrant at Mendez’s home in the 700 block of Hermes Avenue and seized a computer from his locked bedroom, according to the statement. A forensic analysis of the computer found a collection of multiple videos of children under the age of 13 engaged in sexual acts.

Mendez, who had been free on bond, was taken into custody after the verdict, according to the statement. He faces a sentence of probation, or between three and seven years in prison.

He is next scheduled to appear on June 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
