Two 16-year-old boys were shot Thursday evening in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The teenagers were shot about 5:40 p.m. in the 500 block of East 132nd Street, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

They told police they heard shots ring out before they realized they both had been hit, Alfaro said. Someone wearing all black was seen running from the scene.

One boy suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg, while the other was shot in the right foot, Alfaro said. They were both taken to Roseland Community Hospital in good condition.

Area South detectives are investigating.
