Man shot in leg in New City

A man was shot in the leg Saturday night in the New City neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of West 47th Street about 10:20 pm. when someone approached and fired numerous shots, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

The man was struck once in the right leg and took himself to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in “stable” condition, Estrada said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
