One person was killed and another was hurt in a crash in the South Chicago neighborhood early Tuesday.

A car with two people inside crashed into a tree about 4:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of South Yates Boulevard, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The driver, a 27-year-old Orlando Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy Wednesday found Moore died of craniocerebral injuries as a result of the crash, and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

Moore lived one block south from where the crash occurred, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The passenger, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he is in “stable” condition, Sedevic said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
