A 60-year-old man was shot Thursday afternoon in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The victim, a man thought to be in his 60s, was shot in the back in the 2300 block of West 72nd Street about 1:45 p.m., police said.

The man was taken in serious condition Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Witnesses said the man was cleaning his gutters at the time of the shooting and did not appear to be the intended target.
