SHARE Friday bank robbery in Lyons is suspect’s fifth

(LYONS) A man suspected of at least four previous bank robberies in Chicago and the western suburbs struck again in Lyons last week, according to the FBI.

The most recent robbery happened at the MetroBank branch at 8744 Ogden Ave. in Lyons about 12:50 p.m. Friday, according to the FBI.

The first robbery happened at 5:14 p.m. May 16 when the suspect walked into PNC Bank at 4900 W. 87th St. in Burbank, and made off with an unknown amount of cash, according to the FBI.

He is also suspected of robbing a Charter One branch at 4001 S. Harlem in Stickney on June 19; a Washington Federal Bank branch at 2869 S. Archer Ave. on June 11; and a PNC Bank branch at 6650 W. Cermak Ave. on June 6, according to the FBI.

During at least one robbery, the suspect pulled a handgun, according to the FBI.

He is described as a 5-foot-8 Hispanic man, between 30 and 40, with facial hair, the FBI said.

The FBI is offering a reward for tips leading to an arrest. Anyone with information should call (312) 421-6700.
