(ELGIN) A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly burglarized a business in northwest suburban Elgin.

A witness called police about 12:30 a.m. after seeing the boy punch and break a window to a business in the 100 block of East Chicago Street, then reach inside and steal items, according to a statement from Elgin police. The boy then allegedly rode away on a bicycle.

Officers on patrol in the area later located and arrested the teen, who was still carrying the stolen items, police said.

The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal damage to property, police said. He was detained at the Kane County Youth Home.
