SHARE Far South Side block evacuated for broken gas main

A Far South Side block was evacuated Tuesday morning after a gas main broke in the East Side neighborhood.

The 10600 block of Avenue D was evacuated “as a precaution” after a gas main broke about 10:30 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

People’s Gas arrived on the scene and shut off the gas flow by 11 a.m., according to Fire Media.

No one was hurt.
