Meade Electric Co. Inc. plans to move its headquarters to Chicago’s Clearing neighborhood from McCook.
The industrial contractor will rehabilitate a vacant 178,000-square-foot building on 10 acres near Midway Airport. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to announce the move Friday.
Meade employs about 2,000 people in the Chicago area. In addition to its McCook headquarters at 9550 W. 55th St., Meade has offices at 5401 W. Harrison St. in Chicago and in Hammond, Indiana, Indianapolis, Minooka, Milwaukee and Naperville.
Founded in 1908, Meade designs, builds and maintains electrical power and natural gas distribution systems and telecommunications technologies.
