Man critically hurt in West Englewood shooting

A man was critically hurt Monday afternoon in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 23-year-old was in the 6700 block of South Marshfield Avenue about 12:35 p.m. when three unknown males approached him and one of them fired shots, police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said.

The man was shot in the torso and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Pacheco said.

A police source said the man shot is a documented gang member.
