Online grocer Peapod and Artizone Ltd. are teaming up to offer gourmet foods from artisans in the Chicago area.

Artizone specializes in small-batch, gourmet meats, fish and cheeses delivered to homes and offices.

“We’ve always offered a full selection of organic and specialty items, but many shoppers would understandably still seek out their favorite cheese or steak cut or baked good from a local shop,” said Tony Stallone, vice president of Peapod’s Fresh Markets. “Now shoppers can bundle their weekly grocery list with their favorite neighborhood specialty items in one online order.”

The locally sourced products available via Skokie-based Peapod will be selected by Artizone. Some of the 75 artisan shops include Gepperth’s Meat Market, Dirk’s Fish & Gourmet Market, La Fournette, Great American Cheese and Deerfields Bakery.

“Through Peapod, the artisans on artizone.com can now reach the entire Chicagoland area, thus dramatically increasing their exposure to customers while maintaining their ‘old-school’ methods of work,” said Lior Lavy, chief operating officer of artizone Ltd.
