Accretive Health Inc. announced Thursday it has picked Dr. Emad Rizk to be president and chief executive effective July 21.

The Chicago-based firm that handles billing and collections for hospitals said Rizk will also join Accretive’s board of directors. Rizk has been president of McKesson Health Solutions since 2003.

“(Rizk) is a renowned healthcare industry expert who brings with him more than 25 years of experience, and at the same time has demonstrated a profound ability to drive growth and innovation,” Accretive chairman Steve Shulman said in a prepared statement.

Steve Schuckenbrock will give up the CEO post July 21 but help with the transition through Oct 2. Schuckenbrock joined Accretive in April 2013 as president and CEO and had indicated he would leave the company when his contract expired in October.

Accretive Health was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange in March after the company missed a deadline for restating some financial reports.
