A man was shot to death Saturday afternoon on the North Side.

The 28-year-old man was standing on the street in the 1300 block of West Devon Avenue about 3:20 p.m. when someone approached on foot, produced a weapon and fired at him, police said.

He was shot in the back and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 3:58 p.m., authorities said.

His identity was being withheld Saturday night pending notification of his family, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police said the shooting may have been gang-related.
