Three of the city’s public beaches are open, but not for swimming, Wednesday ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend.

Montrose, Oak Street and South Shore beaches are all open, but swimming bans remain in effect because of water quality hazards, according to the Chicago Park District.

Additionally, Humboldt Beach is under a swim advisory, also due to water quality, according to the park district.

More tests will be conducted Wednesday to determine whether swimming will be allowed at those beaches Thursday, according to the park district.
