(SKOKIE) A man was fatally shot by a gunman on a motorcycle Tuesday morning in north suburban Skokie, police said.

A man dressed in black clothing and riding a maroon-colored motorcycle opened fire in the 8000 block of McCormick Boulevard about 9:45 a.m., according to a statement from Skokie police.

Antoine Sanders, who was in the passenger seat of a vehicle, was shot in the chest and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, according police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Sanders, 23, of the 7000 block of South Paulina Street, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital at 10:01 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

“Investigators do not believe this was a random incident,” the police statement said.
