Man shot on Far South Side

A man was shot Thursday afternoon on the Far South Side.

The 27-year-old man was taking out his garbage in the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue about 12 p.m. when someone walked up and shot him, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

The man was shot in the hip and taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, Zala said.

Police said the victim is a gang member.
