The weekend will kick off with a round of storms Friday evening, and the wet, warm weather is expected to continue through Sunday.

Late Friday afternoon, thunderstorms are expected to develop, according to the National Weather Service. Torrential downpours, lightning and wind gusts up to 55 mph are all possible.

Saturday will be muggy, with high temperatures between 82 and 90 degrees, according to the weather service. More thunderstorms are possible, especially south of I-80.

The sun will return Sunday, though a chance of showers and storms remains during the day, according to the weather service.

Next week, the temperatures will again sink below normal, the weather service warns, and more storms will be possible.
