A man was killed and two other people were seriously wounded in a crash on Lake Shore Drive on the Near South Side early Saturday.

About 4:30 a.m., the vehicle carrying the three hit a wall in the southbound lanes in the 2400 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said.

Carlin Jolicoeur, 29, of the 2800 block of East 87th Street, was killed in the crash, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 5:30 a.m.

Two other people, whose ages and genders were not immediately known, were listed in serious condition at area hospitals, police said.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.

“He’s gonna make it,” said a Chicago Police officer on the scene after Saturday morning’s deadly crash on Lake Shore Drive shortly after paramedics had pulled the man from the car. The driver died in the crash.
