A man was killed and a teen boy was hurt in a drive-by shooting early Monday in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old, Cassius White, of the 8200 block of South Dante Avenue, was standing with a 16-year-old boy on the sidewalk in the 9600 block of South Sangamon Street about 12:40 a.m. when a gray sedan drove by and someone inside fired shots, police said.

White was shot in the abdomen and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 5:54 a.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the left leg and taken in “stable” condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers, police said.
