A man was shot and critically wounded while he was eating inside of a restaurant early Monday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 28-year-old man was shot about 2:45 a.m. while eating with another male and female inside El Taconazo Restaurant, at 4124 W. North, police said.

At another table, a male, who was sitting with “several females,” left the restaurant and came back with a gun, police said. He started arguing with the 28-year-old and eventually shot him in the chest. The shooter then ran off, police said.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A worker inside the restaurant said she heard gunshots but did not see the shooter. She did not want to release her name.

Forensic technicians could be seen taking prints from a window outside of the restaurant, near a table with a half-empty orange Jarritos soda bottle and plates of half-eaten food.
